The Exodus

Several hundred years after humanity took their first tentative steps into space, they'd filled every inhabitable corner of their own solar system, spreading roots and carving out colonies for every conceivable creed. So when they Great Calamity was discovered, it took Include 2 or three brief blurbs from false docs with varied POVs. *** “When humanity first reached out beyond the borders of our own world, we did so by bringing our preconceptions—national, religious, cultural, what have you—into the void with us. Each little colony we established, each world we transformed, each station we erected, all of these became microcosms of the beliefs and disputes that led to the necessity of colonization in the first place. It is no wonder that in very short order we doomed our homes, both old and new. The question now is what will we do with this knowledge as we reach out further—this time beyond the borders of the entire system which gave us life. Will we, once again, let our pettiness dictate that we repeat the patterns of old and destry whatever new worlds await us? Or will be reimagine ourselves, finally, and find innovations that allow us to proceed with unity? I know which one I hope for; the survival of our species depends on it.” Some made up philosophy person, Title of some manifesto they wrote when news of the Great Calamity first became public knowledge, part of shipboard data Ark volume blah blah blah
